My clients saw this classic hand built windsurfing board for sale and decided it was just too interesting to resist. They decided to convert the board into a garden bench which is where I came in.
Concept designs were prepared and a preferred option developed. The board is a hollow strip timber board with cork edging and encapsulated with GRP. There was some damage to the GRP which needed repairing.
Materials:
Frame constructed of 200mm by 50mm Kwila
Frame finished using Teak Oil
Repairs and skin stabilised using WEST epoxy resin
Board bonded to frame with Selley’s Marine Flex high performance adhesive sealant – Black
Board polished and finished with six coats of Timbercote marine varnish
