SkiDally was a ski boat purchased in the 1960’s by their dad. The boat is no more but some of the artefacts have been kept and stored away for an undecided purpose. Then one family member had an idea and approached me to design and mount the artefacts for display. Here is the result.
Atrefacts: propellor, rudder, two prop shaft fittings, and a black and white photo.
Boat details:
Name: SkiDally
Length: 14 feet
Construction: Plywood skin over timber frame
Engine: Ford Consul 4 cylinder
Drive: Inboard direct
Builder – unknown but believed to be a homebuilt boat based on the ChrisCraft18 design similar to the photo below.
Materials:
Plinth: Northland swamp kauri – 640 x 400 x 40 mm
Propellor mounted using ball races so that it rotates
Vee-carved “SkiDally” using CNC and Vectric VCarve software
Nameplate: 3mm acrylic reverse vee-carved using CNC and Vectric VCarve software
Photo holder” 3mm acrylic folded and bent
I was stoked when Maurice called to say it was finished and totally happy when I saw the finished product. A fabulous, tidy, carefully made gift for my hubby. He was absolutely blown away by it and happy that the artefacts are now on display. Thanks so much Maurice for your input and thoughtfulness in the design process. Would totally recommend Maurice to anyone wanting something like this done. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the opportunity to contribute to realising your idea Barb. I really enjoyed working on the project.
