A design flaw in this campervan where the sink was installed over the worktop meant that water frequently leaked into the cupboards below.

My client wanted this problem solved and the solution designed was to overlay a 10mm recycled Rimu worktop over the top of the original formica and sink. Adding fiddles around the edge kept any water contained within the worktop.

The worktop was fabricated from recycled Rimu sarking which was backed with epoxy resin and woven glass fibre cloth. A cut-out and recess was milled for the sink and tap before the top surface was milled. After a sealing coat of WEST epoxy, the surface was finished with satin marine varnish. Between thge sink unit and window, the original polypropylene lining was replaced with a Rimu board.

A new dashboard tray was fabricated to match using Rimu sarking

Installation included fitting a new sink tap that could be swung clear of the sink to provide more room for a bucket.

Materials:

Recycled Rimu sarking
WEST Epoxy resin and glass fibre cloth
New tap
Marine varnish – satin finish
Sikaflex marine sealant
